Cadet Firefighter Scheme Cookstown
The Cadet Firefighter Scheme is a voluntary youth organisation formed within the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service. The aims of the Scheme are:
The Cookstown Branch of the Cadet Firefighters was set up in 2005, the group of young people aged 14-18, meet each wednesday night from 19:00-21:00. Activites vary from week to week but generally a 3 year curriculum is followed. Within the Cadet curriculum, practical activities include:
In addition to this, various visits to other venues may take place, such as;
As well as this, there is also an important social aspect to the cadets, other activites include the annual Cadet Forum, were cadets have the opportunity to go on a three day residential and meet Cadets from other Branches in the province. Cadets have also enjoyed pool competitions, bowling trips to M & D's Theme Park in Glasgow and have supported local charities through sponsored events.
